Virginia International Tattoo

April 28- May 1, 2022

It’s no secret Norfolk has a serious appreciation for our military; after all, Norfolk is home to the largest naval base in the world.  In 1997 Virginia Arts Festival presented the city with what has now become a staple to Norfolk’s performing arts scene: The Virginia International Tattoo. Blending tradition and entertainment; including bagpipers, military bands, fife and drum corps and drill teams are just some of the over 1,000 performers who come to Virginia once a year for the festival.

The Virginia Arts Festival’s iconic show the Virginia International Tattoo will return to the Norfolk Scope Arena April 28 – May 1, 2022. The Festival is taking advantage of the stadium’s expansive outdoor layout, plus easy access to parking, the downtown Norfolk area, and popular regional attractions. And this outdoor edition of the Tattoo will offer all the pageantry and inspiration that guests have come to expect from the Tattoo over the past 24 years.

This new format will introduce many exciting new features only available at an outdoor venue while including cherished elements of the traditional Virginia International Tattoo. Each years’ Tattoo is different, with new performers from across the globe, new themes of honor and patriotism, and new sights and sounds to amaze you. Stay tuned in for more information on the specific performances!

This year’s Norfolk NATO Festival International Village will occur the Saturday of the Tattoo weekend and is celebrated as the only US parade to honor all 30 members of NATO. Don’t forget to pre-register online and stop by Scope Plaza to see the Norfolk NATO Festival International Village and Flag Raising and seize the opportunity to discover performances, art, food, and history.
